Learning Letter

  1. Presenting on "Misery Loves Comedy" was probably my least favorite presentation, but I learned a lot about using images to relay a message more effectively. The next presentation was very straight forward, and really made me reevaluate how I was imagining being a teacher in my mind. It really hit home at this point that I was going to be attempting to instill this information in young minds. The third presentation was honestly fun, I love talking about books I love and showing everyone why reading is great. The content portfolio was a trip down memory lane and for that I am thankful. I began to see the connection between what I've learned and how I'm going to use it.
  2. I've heard a lot of cool teaching ideas from my peers this quarter, and I like to think I've come up with a few good ones on my own. My favorite concept from this quarter is from our focus on teaching to non- native English speakers. I really hope that one day I can teach outside of the United States and bring an understanding of our beautiful language to people who will benefit from it.
  3. This was the first class I've taken which really gave me a good idea of what to expect as a future teacher. I understand now that it's really going to take some effort to cater to students' individual strengths and weaknesses. At some point somebody said, and I can't remember who, "if you're not learning, you're not teaching." This stuck in my head ever since and has really got me thinking about my role as a teacher. I know I have a lot more learning to do before I reach my goal, but now I understand that even then I'll still be learning and growing alongside my students. I'm very excited to begin that experience.
